When choosing a restaurant to go to for Denver Restaurant Week, there were a few criteria I kept in mind:
I wanted to go somewhere highly recommended.
I wanted to get the best food I could.
I wanted to get my money’s worth.
And I wanted the place to be cute.
Spuntino blew all of these out of the water. I could not have left a meal more satisfied than I did that evening.
First, the restaurant was listed on Westword’s Top Ten Picks for Restaurant Week, so it was highly recommended and I knew the food would be good. Second, the regular menu had some high priced items, so I knew I would get my money’s worth. Finally, the Highlands neighborhood of Denver is one of my favorites, so I knew it would be cute.
To start, I had the Inverno Insalata, a light and delicious salad that was the perfect starter. The house-made dressing accompanied the pomegranate seeds and bleu cheese perfectly and the toasted almonds added a nice crunch to it. For my entree I chose the Short Ribs, and they were the best short ribs I had ever tasted. The meat was the perfect texture and the jalepenos and spanish rice added an amazing spicy flavor. To finish the meal, I had the Carrot Cake with gelato and toasted pecans which was a spectacular finale to a meal I won’t forget for a while.
