FunBoulder’s Top 5 Happy Hours of 2014

Throughout 2014, I went to a lot of Happy Hours in Boulder. So, as 2014 comes to an end, I decided to narrow it down to my top 5 favorite happy hours (which was quite difficult). I picked these five Downtown Boulder restaurants according to happy hour times, prices, and of course, tastiness. Without further adieu, here they are (in alphabetical order).

Brasserie Ten Ten

Happiest Hours: Daily 3-6:30

Similar to The Med, with Happy Hour every day, Brasserie Ten Ten has a lot to offer. $3.25 Draft Beers, $4 Wine and Well Cocktails, and $6 Martinis, Margaritas, and Kip Royales. They also have some great deals on appetizers ranging in price from $2-$6. The atmosphere feels a bit more fancy than the other restaurants on this list, but still allows for a great time.

The Mediterranean

Happiest Hours: Daily 3-6:30

With Happy Hour every day of the week, you can’t go wrong in choosing The Med. Their Happy Hour includes: $1 Off Draft Beers, $4 Wine and Well Cocktails, $4.50 Sangria, $6 House Margaritas/ Well Martinis, as well as an extensive list of appetizers. Some of my favorites are the Datiles con Tocino (Bacon Wrapped Dates) and the Patatas Bravas (Roasted Potatoes).

The Rio Grande

Happiest Hours: Mon-Fri 3-6 and Thursdays 9PM-Midnight

If you want a Happy Hour with a view, The Rio is the place to go. When the weather is nice their rooftop is open to sit and eat or you can grab a drink at the bar. It gets crowded, but the wait is definitely worth it. The Rio is best known by locals and students alike for their Late Night Happy Hour on Thursdays. During this time their House Margaritas are only $4 (normally $7). Be careful though, they’re very strong (maybe that’s why they have a limit of 3 per person).

Happiest Hours: Daily 3-6

SALT has the largest range of options as far as Happy Hour drinks go. They offer $4 Draft Beer, $3 Canned Beer, $4 Wine, $5 Cocktail Elements, and $6 Featured Cocktails. Their Cocktail Elements are the most fun to try because you essentially build your own drink. You choose a spirit, a house-infused simple syrup, and a style of drink. I always tell the bartender a few things that I like and have them make me something delicious, and yes, it is always delicious.

Happiest Hours: Monday 4-Close, Tues-Thurs 4-6, and Fri-Sun 11:30-6

Tahona offers, in my opinion, the best margaritas in Boulder. During Happy Hour they range from $4-$6, depending on the type of Tequila used. My absolute favorite is the Strawberry/ Jalapeno Cucumber Infused Margarita. It is sweet, but not too sweet, and the sugared rim is my favorite. They also offer tacos for $2.50 along with many more appetizer specials (The Queso Fundido is the best queso I’ve ever had).
