It’s that time of year again. The season that Coloradans have been waiting for since the summer started. Ski season. Winter gave us all a little scare when our first measurable snow didn’t occur until mid-November, but since then the Rocky mountains have bounced back.
Now, those epic powder days won’t get here for another month or so, so until then the choice of mountain is all about the mountain’s culture and atmosphere. Arapahoe Basin (or A-Basin) is the ski area to go to if you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere, no lift lines, and a parking lot open to tailgating. It is the only ski resort that offers parking spots to tailgate at, which always results in a good time! If you arrive early enough you can get a spot at “The Beach” which backs up to 3 lower-mountain chairlifts, so you can ski right up to your car!
A-Basin is a great ski area for every type of skier. They have trails from easy greens to expert-only double blacks and a back bowl (Montezuma), not to mention incredible views from the top. There are only eight chairlifts on the mountain, so you can challenge yourself to ski every run in one day, are you up for it?
